We present the first bugfix release of the 1.11 release series!

Transport Tycoon Deluxe (PC) Strategy 15 June 1994. Transport Tycoon Deluxe is an extended version of a popular economic strategy produced by Microprose. The player takes on the role of the head of a transport company, and his task is to develop a small company into a global tycoon. Chrono.gg - One game. One amazing deal. Every day at 9AM Pacific. Become a transport tycoon. Since it was originally developed for MS-DOS, Transport Tycoon didn't work properly on the new Windows operating systems, and for this reason, the company decided to update its product and launch a version that worked on the newer operating systems, and that new version was called Transport Tycoon Deluxe. There's also Transport Giant and Simutrans (much deeper than OpenTTD), both here on Steam, but TF is going to be much prettier. If you're into setting up transportation networks (and better graphics), there's also Cities In Motion 2 and the most comprehensive, A-Train 9 4.0 (steep learning curve). Those 2 are also on Steam.

Along with our usual bug fixes, we’ve broken our own rules and included a couple of features in this release - a vsync option which should hopefully fix screen-tearing seen by some people, and volume controls in the Options window (with better defaults).

Notable bug fixes include improved scaling of a few windows, and better detection of faulty GL-renders which should avoid some crashes on startup due to bad video renderer.

Where Can I Get It?

Unfortunately, it is very hard to find the Transport Tycoon games to buy.Amazon UK has the DOS versionof Transport Tycoon Deluxe, but this will only work on Windows 95, 98 and Me unless you use something like DOSBox. It will not run on any modern version of Windows.

You may be able to find TTD second-hand on eBay. Again though, unlessyou can find the Windows 95 version of the game, it will not work on Windows NT, 2000, XP or higher.

Getting the game to run on modern versions of Windows

The Windows version of TTD will only run on Windows 95, 98 and Me by default: you need to installTTDPatch if you want to play it on any newer version of Windows. TTDPatch modifies TTD's gameplay in many ways, so pleaseread the manual before using it: in particular, the installation andpatches sections. I receive many e-mails asking me how to set up TTDPatch, and I simply do not have the time to reply tothem all, so please, please, check the manual before contacting me about this.

An additional step is required to get the game to run on Windows Vista or later versions of Windows. You must copy the file DPLAYX.DLL from the windowssystem32 directoryto your TTD directory, and rename it DPLAY.DLL. To do that, enter the following command into Start -> Run: xcopy %windir%system32dplayx.dll c:ttwin95dplay.dll,where c:ttwin95 is your TTD directory.

Another option, an alternative to TTDPatch, is OpenTTD. OpenTTD is a freeopen-source version of the game, with many enhancements to TTD including vastly superior multiplayer - including online play with up to 8 players, variable-sized maps (from a tiny 64x64 squaresto a huge 2048x2048 squares - 64 times larger than a standard TTD map!), easy installation and many other exciting new features. Even better,OpenTTD now no longer requires the original game data, as there is now a completely fan-made reconstruction of the graphics, sound and music!
